Indulge in a rich and moist chocolate pound cake made with buttermilk for a decadent treat.
Ingredients:
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 0.5 cup hot water
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
  • Whip the egg whites until stiff peaks form, then set aside. Cream the butter and sugar in a large bowl. Melt the chocolate in hot water. Beat in the egg yolks, melted chocolate, buttermilk, and vanilla.
  • Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl. Mix them into the chocolate mixture. Gently fold in 1/3 of the egg whites to lighten the batter, then fold in the rest until fully incorporated.
  • Pour the batter into a greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 1 hour, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow it to cool on a rack before serving. Yields 16 servings.
