Easy and versatile roasted pear recipe using various pear varieties like Bartlett, Bosc, red, and Anjou - Bosc pears offer a firmer texture when roasted.
Ingredients:
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 4 pears, halved and cored
  • 0.5 cup sour cream
  • 0.25 cup coarsely chopped toasted pistachios (or your favorite nuts)
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C with the rack in the center position. Place butter in a baking pan large enough to hold pears in a single layer; let it melt in the heating oven.
  • Gently dust sugar over the melted butter, then nestle pears, cut-side down, on top. Roast until fork-tender, approximately 30 minutes.
  • Take the pan with the pears out of the oven, flip the pears over, and brush them with the delicious pan sauce. Place the pan back in the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the pears are golden and shiny.
  • Cool the pears for a short time. Plate the pears onto dessert plates or bowls. Add a spoonful of sour cream on top of each pear, pour caramel pan sauce over them, sprinkle with nuts, and enjoy.
