Rosy Mulled Punches

Enjoy the aromatic delight of simmering sweet spices in these mulled punches, creating fragrant steam with every sip.
Ingredients:
  • SYRUP
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon whole cloves
  • 1 teaspoon whole allspice
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • NONALCOHOLIC PUNCH
  • 1 1/2 quarts (6 cups) raspberry-cranberry drink
  • ALCOHOLIC PUNCH
  • 2 (750 ml) bottles (6 cups) dry red wine
Instructions:
  • Combine all syrup ingredients in a small saucepan and mix well. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • After straining the syrup, allow it to cool slightly before refrigerating for at least 3 hours or until ready to serve.
  • When ready to serve, divide the prepared syrup equally between 2 large saucepans (about 1 1/4 cups each). In one saucepan, pour the raspberry-cranberry drink, and in the other, pour the wine. Heat gently over low heat until hot. Serve with optional cinnamon sticks and citrus twists.
