Apple and pear spiced tart with cream cheese pastry - a cozy treat!
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup butter, chilled
  • 0.5 cup cream cheese
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 apples - peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 1 pear - peeled, cored and sliced
  • 0.25 cup orange juice
  • 0.33333334326744 cup brown sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1.5 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 0.5 cup apricot jam, warmed
Instructions:
  • Cut the cold butter and cream cheese into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs using a knife, pastry blender, or food processor. The mixture should hold together when squeezed. Shape the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  • Mix the sliced apples and pear with the fresh orange juice. Combine the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, and cornstarch. Gently coat the fruit with the flavorful sugar-spice blend and let it rest.
  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and prepare an 8-inch tart pan. Alternatively, grease a baking sheet if making a free-form tart (galette).
  • Roll out the pastry into a 10-inch circle on a lightly floured surface. Gently place the dough in the tart pan or on a baking sheet. Artfully arrange the fruit on top of the pastry. If using a baking sheet, fold the edges of the dough over the fruit with a 2-inch rim, allowing the pastry folds to overlap.
  • Once the tart is golden brown and the filling is bubbling after about 30 minutes of baking in the preheated oven, take it out and glaze it with apricot jam.
