Crispy fried calamari seasoned with salt and pepper for a taste of Asian restaurant-style satisfaction.
Ingredients:
  • 1 egg
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 2 cups panko bread crumbs
  • 3 teaspoons cracked black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt
  • 1 pound calamari rings
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:
  • Combine whisked egg and milk in a bowl. In a separate shallow bowl, mix panko, pepper, and salt.
  • Dust calamari with flour, dip in egg mixture, coat with panko, and refrigerate on a plate for 20 minutes.
  • In a saucepan or deep fryer, heat oil. Fry calamari in batches until they turn light golden brown, approximately 3 minutes. Place on paper towels to drain.
