Irresistibly sweet sticky buns with pecans - a beloved family favorite dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons active dry yeast
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup water at room temperature
  • 1 cup milk at room temperature
  • 0.25 cup butter, melted
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon Diamond Crystal® Kosher Salt
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar, packed
  • 0.25 teaspoon Diamond Crystal® Kosher Salt, or to taste
  • 3 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1.3333333730698 cups chopped pecans
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
Instructions:
  • In a large bowl, mix together yeast, sugar, water, and milk. Allow the mixture to sit until it becomes foamy, typically within 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Combine butter, egg, and vanilla, then incorporate flour and Diamond Crystal® Kosher Salt until a dough forms. Knead for 8 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Transfer dough to an oiled bowl, cover with a cloth, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, around 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
  • Generously coat two 9-inch cake pans with cooking spray.
  • To make the caramel sauce, melt 1/2 cup of butter with 1 cup of dark brown sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar completely dissolves into the butter. Add the heavy cream and Diamond Crystal® Kosher Salt, mixing well without boiling. The sauce should be thick. Divide the sauce evenly into cake pans and sprinkle pecans over the top.
  • Divide the dough in half and roll each portion into a 14x6 inch rectangle.
  • Combine brown sugar and cinnamon for the filling. Brush melted butter evenly on each rectangle and sprinkle with the brown sugar cinnamon mix. Roll up each rectangle starting with the longer side. Cut each roll into 9 equal portions. Place the rolls in prepared cake pans and let them rise until doubled, approximately 30 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and fully cooked.
  • Carefully invert onto a plate while the sauce is piping hot. Serve warm.
