Whip up a mouthwatering Mediterranean Saltimbocca dish in just 25 minutes! Tender veal wrapped in flavorful prosciutto and sage, a burst of deliciousness in every bite.
Ingredients:
  • 8 veal top round or round steaks, 1/4 inch thick (about 1 1/2 lb)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 8 thin slices imported prosciutto or cooked ham
  • 8 thin slices (1 oz each) mozzarella cheese
  • 8 fresh sage leaves
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine or chicken broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
Instructions:
  • Tenderize each veal steak by pounding with a meat mallet. Coat with flour and shake off excess. Layer a slice of prosciutto, cheese, and a sage leaf on each veal slice. Roll up the veal and secure with kitchen string or toothpicks.
  • In a 10-inch skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Sear veal rolls for about 5 minutes in the melted butter until golden brown, turning occasionally. Pour in wine, season rolls with salt and pepper, cover, and cook over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes until veal is cooked through.
