Santa-faced bell-shaped sugar cookies with coconut, icing, red sugar, and candies - a festive Christmas classic.
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 pouch (7 oz) Betty Crocker™ Decorating Cookie Icing white icing
  • 1/2 cup flaked coconut
  • 2 tablespoons Betty Crocker™ Decorating Cookie Icing red icing (from 7-oz pouch)
  • 2 tablespoons coarse red sparkling sugar
  • 24 brown candy-coated milk chocolate candies
  • 12 red cinnamon candies
Instructions:
  • Combine cookie mix, flour, butter, egg, and almond extract in a large bowl until a soft dough forms. Shape the dough into a ball, slightly flatten it, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F. Roll out the dough to 1/4-inch thickness on a floured surface and use a 4 3/4-inch bell-shaped cookie cutter to cut out the cookies. Place the cutouts on ungreased cookie sheets 2 inches apart. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until the edges are lightly browned. Allow the cookies to cool for 2 minutes before transferring them to cooling racks. Let them cool completely for about 30 minutes before serving.
  • Decorate each cookie with white icing for the beard and mustache, hat pom-pom, and sprinkle coconut. Add red icing under the hat pom-pom, sprinkle red sugar, attach milk chocolate candies for eyes, cinnamon candies for nose, red icing for the mouth, and white icing for the eyebrows. Allow the decorations to set.
