Gluten-free Santa hat meringue cookies with red and white color, adorable and delicious for all to enjoy!
Ingredients:
  • 2 egg whites at room temperature
  • 0.5 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 0.25 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 drop red food coloring, or desired amount
  • 3 tablespoons red colored sugar, or as desired
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a cozy 200 degrees F (95 degrees C, if you're feeling precise) and lay down a sheet of parchment paper on a baking sheet.
  • In a bowl, whisk egg whites until soft peaks form. Add cream of tartar and vanilla extract, continue beating. Gradually incorporate white sugar until stiff peaks form. Set aside 1/4 of the meringue mixture. Add red food coloring to the remaining 3/4 portion and mix evenly.
  • Fill a piping bag with the colorful meringue using a round tip. Pipe 20 triangles shaped like Santa hats, each about 1 1/2 inches tall with tips bending over, onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle the hats with red sugar for a festive touch.
  • Pipe the remaining 1/4 of the uncolored meringue into a clean piping bag with a round tip. Create small white pom-poms on top of each hat and a fluffy white trim at the bottom of each hat.
  • Bake the meringue cookies in the preheated oven for 1 hour and 20 minutes until firm but not browned. Then, let the cookies cool and crisp up inside the turned-off oven for 1 hour.
