Sausage and Potatoes Italiano

Quick and easy meat and potato casserole ready in 15 minutes.
Ingredients:
  • 1 lb bulk Italian pork sausage
  • 4 cups boiling water
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup margarine or butter
  • 2 boxes (4.7 oz each) Betty Crocker™ au gratin potatoes
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions (8 medium)
  • 2 tablespoons sliced green onions (2 medium)
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 400°F and generously coat a 13x9-inch (3-quart) glass baking dish with cooking spray. In a 10-inch skillet, sauté sausage over medium-high heat, stirring often, until cooked through; then drain any excess fat.
  • Combine water, milk, and margarine in a large bowl. Mix in 2 pouches of Potatoes and 2 pouches of Sauce Mix. Stir in sausage and 1/2 cup of green onions until thoroughly combined. Transfer the potato mixture into a baking dish.
  • After baking uncovered for 35 minutes, sprinkle 2 tablespoons of green onions on top. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes or until the potatoes are tender. Allow the dish to stand for 5 minutes before serving to let the sauce thicken.
