Seasoned white bread perfect for holiday stuffing or gourmet sandwiches. Prep ahead for Thanksgiving or enjoy juicy chicken sandwiches anytime.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 2 cups warm water (100 to 110 degrees F/40 to 45 degrees C)
  • 0.25 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 0.25 cup vegetable oil
  • 5.5 cups all-purpose flour, or more if needed
  • 2 tablespoons poultry seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons dried savory
  • 1.5 tablespoons ground dried sage
  • 1 tablespoon dried dill weed
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions:
  • Combine yeast, warm water, sugar, salt, eggs, and vegetable oil in a large bowl. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, poultry seasoning, savory, sage, dill, black pepper, and nutmeg until fully mixed. Gradually incorporate the flour mixture into the wet ingredients, adding 1 cup at a time until the dough is smooth; add more flour if necessary.
  • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 8 minutes until it becomes springy, smooth, and elastic. Shape the dough into a ball, place it in an oiled bowl, rotate the ball to coat it lightly with oil, cover the bowl with a cloth, and let it rise until doubled in size for about 1 hour.
  • Grease 2 9x5-inch loaf pans. Punch down the dough, knead to remove air pockets, then divide the dough in half. Shape each half into a log, pinching the seams closed, and place seam sides down in the pans. Cover lightly with a cloth and let rise until doubled, for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Bake the bread until beautifully golden for 25 to 30 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool.
