Delicious candied walnuts with cream sherry, orange zest, and brown sugar. Freezer-friendly.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons cream sherry
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon orange extract
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 5 cups walnut halves
Instructions:
  • Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with aluminum foil or parchment paper.
  • Combine brown sugar, white sugar, salt, sherry, orange zest, and orange extract in a heavy saucepan. Stir until fully mixed. Bring to a gentle boil over medium-low heat while stirring constantly for 1 minute. Add butter, remove from heat, then mix in walnut halves until well coated with syrup.
  • Arrange the candied walnut halves on the baking sheet and let them cool completely for at least 1 hour before breaking them into bite-size chunks for serving.
