Sicilian-style broccoli rabe sauteed with garlic, red pepper flakes, and olive oil for a quick and delicious side dish.
Ingredients:
  • 1 bunch broccoli rabe, ends trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 1 clove garlic, very thinly sliced
  • 0.25 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 0.25 teaspoon kosher salt
Instructions:
  • Trim and peel the thick lower stems of the broccoli rabe, reserving the florets and leaves.
  • 1. Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil, garlic, and red pepper flakes. Saute until fragrant, approximately 45 seconds. Add the stems and saute until coated with oil, about another 45 seconds. Pour in water and cook until stems are mostly tender, for 3 to 4 minutes. Then, stir in the florets, leaves, and salt. Cover the skillet and cook until tender, for about 5 minutes.
  • Transfer the flavorful broccoli rabe along with its delicious juices to a stylish serving bowl. Drizzle over the remaining 1 tablespoon of high-quality olive oil to enhance the dish's richness and flavors.
