Quick and easy lasagna recipe with leftovers. Pair with garlic toast and salad.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup warm water
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound bulk Italian sausage
  • 1 cup sliced black olives
  • 1 pinch basil
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1.5 teaspoons dried sage
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon dried onion flakes
  • 2 (14 ounce) jars marinara sauce
  • 1 (16 ounce) package lasagna noodles
  • 8 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 1 pound mozzarella cheese, shredded
Instructions:
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook and caramelize the ground beef and Italian sausage until golden brown. Drain any excess grease. Add water and black olives, then season generously with basil, garlic powder, oregano, sage, pepper, minced garlic, and onion flakes. Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Finally, mix in the marinara sauce and take off the heat.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) for a perfectly baked dish.
  • Start by creating a base with meat and sauce at the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Add a layer of dry noodles, then spread a thin layer of ricotta cheese and sprinkle some mozzarella on top. Continue layering by adding sauce and repeating until you finish with meat and sauce on top. Remember to set aside approximately 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese for later use.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, but check after 30 minutes, adjusting based on thickness. Lasagna is ready when a knife easily pierces it. Sprinkle reserved cheese on top, and bake for an additional 10 minutes for a perfectly melted cheese topping.
