Create a luxurious sauteed asparagus dish with caramelized onions and walnuts in just one skillet.
Ingredients:
  • 3 tablespoons ghee (clarified butter), divided
  • 0.5 cup thinly sliced sweet onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons chopped English walnuts
  • 1 pound asparagus spears, woody bases removed
Instructions:
  • In a nonstick skillet, melt half of the ghee over medium-low heat. Spread the onion out into a thin layer and cook until soft and beginning to brown, stirring occasionally for 8 to 10 minutes. Adjust heat if needed to prevent burning. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Finally, stir in the vinegar.
  • Move the onion-garlic blend to a bowl and season it with salt and pepper. Clean the skillet and melt the rest of the ghee over medium-low heat. Add walnut pieces and sauté until they are crispy and lightly toasted, approximately 3 minutes. Take them out of the pan and keep them to the side.
  • In the same skillet, increase the heat to medium-high and cook the asparagus, stirring frequently, until vibrant green and tender yet crunchy, approximately 10 to 12 minutes. Season with salt and pepper, plate the asparagus, top with the onion mixture, and garnish with walnuts.
