Ingredients:
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup canola oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups Gold Medal™ whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups finely chopped unpeeled apples (3 medium)
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F and generously spray the bottom of a 13x9-inch pan with cooking spray.
  • In a large bowl, mix sugars, buttermilk, oil, vanilla, and eggs with an electric mixer on low for 20 to 30 seconds until well combined. Add all remaining ingredients except apples and walnuts; mix on low speed for about 1 minute until well blended. Gently fold in apples and walnuts. Spread batter in the pan.
  • Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool in the pan on a cooling rack for 1 hour.
