Succulent lamb mince on a soft burger bun for the ultimate comfort food experience.
Ingredients:
  • 9.20 gm olive oil or canola oil
  • 500g 3 star lamb mince
  • 1 medium brown onion
  • 1/2 red capsicum
  • 1 celery stick
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 187.50 gm water
  • 130.00 gm tomato sauce
  • 31.50 gm soy sauce
  • 36.60 gm Worcestershire sauce
  • 22.20 gm tomato paste
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 125.00 ml reduced-fat Greek-style yoghurt
  • 1/2 tsp lime zest
  • 10.60 gm fresh lime juice
  • 1.3.00 gm ground cumin
  • 1/4 green drumhead cabbage
  • 1/4 continental cucumber
  • 40.00 ml fresh mint, chopped
Instructions:
  • Preheat a large heavy frying pan over medium-high heat. Add oil followed by the lamb mince. Cook and crumble the mince with a spoon for approximately 8 minutes until browned. If needed, strain the cooked mince in a sieve to remove excess oil before returning it to the pan.
  • Lower the heat to medium, and incorporate the onion, capsicum, celery, and garlic. Saute, stirring frequently, for roughly 5 minutes until the onion turns translucent. Pour in the water and deglaze the pan for about 1 minute until the liquid reduces by half.
  • Lower the heat to medium-low. Add tomato sauce, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and tomato paste. Cook for approximately 8 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • In a big bowl, combine yogurt, lime zest, lime juice, and cumin. Add cabbage, cucumber, and mint, then mix well. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Assemble by spooning the lamb mixture onto the bun bottoms, topping with slaw, and finishing with the bun tops. Serve the remaining slaw on the side. Enjoy your sloppy Joes!
