Delicious slow-cooked beef in savory black bean sauce awaits you at home.
Ingredients:
  • 36.80 gm vegetable oil
  • 1kg No Added Hormone Beef Brisket
  • 86.63 gm orange juice
  • 1 brown onion, finely chopped
  • 4cm piece fresh ginger, peeled, finely grated
  • 4 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 long red chilli, finely chopped
  • 106.43 gm black bean sauce
  • 40.00 ml shao hsing (Chinese cooking wine)
  • 1/4 tsp ground white pepper
  • 1 red capsicum, roughly chopped
  • 2 bunches Chinese broccoli (gai lan), halved crossways
  • 3 green onions, thinly sliced
  • Steamed long-grain white rice, to serve
Instructions:
  • In a large frying pan over high heat, heat oil and brown beef by turning for 7 to 8 minutes. Transfer the beef to the slow cooker.
  • Combine juice, brown onion, ginger, garlic, chilli, black bean sauce, cooking wine, pepper, and 1⁄2 cup cold water in the slow cooker. Cook covered on LOW for 6 hours until beef is tender, then add capsicum during the last hour of cooking.
  • Boil Chinese broccoli in a generous amount of water until tender, then drain.
  • Roughly shred the beef using 2 forks, then drizzle it with sauce and sprinkle with green onion. Serve alongside rice and Chinese broccoli.
