Elevate your bone broth game with slow-cooked roasted beef bones and flavorful aromatics for a homemade alternative that beats canned versions.
Ingredients:
  • 3 pounds beef bones, or more to taste
  • 3 carrots, chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 5 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 1 teaspoon whole black peppercorns
  • 2 bay leaves
  • cold water to cover
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • kosher salt to taste
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Spread the beef bones evenly on the prepared sheet.
  • Place the bones in the preheated oven and roast them until they turn a delicious golden brown, typically for about 25 to 30 minutes.
  • Add carrots, celery, onion, garlic, peppercorns, and bay leaves to the slow cooker. Arrange roasted bones on top of vegetables, then cover with cold water until bones are submerged. Stir in apple cider vinegar and kosher salt.
  • After 8 hours on Low, strain the broth through a fine-mesh strainer into a bowl, discarding any solids.
