Family-friendly pepper steak over rice - simple and tasty!
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 pounds beef sirloin, sliced into strips
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 0.5 cup soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons white sugar
  • 3 green bell peppers, cut into strips
  • 0.25 cup cold water
Instructions:
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, heat the oil until shimmering. Add the steak strips and sear them on both sides until golden brown. Toss in the garlic to infuse flavor as the steak cooks. Transfer the steak along with its flavorful juices to a slow cooker. Mix in the onion, soy sauce, salt, pepper, and sugar. Cover and cook on Low for 6 to 8 hours until the meat is melt-in-your-mouth tender.
  • One hour before finishing cooking, toss in the green peppers. Combine cornstarch and cold water, then pour the mixture into the slow cooker towards the end and cook until the sauce thickens.
