Slow cooker Italian turkey meatballs - a flavorful crowd-pleaser.
Ingredients:
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped, divided
  • 2 (28 ounce) cans crushed tomatoes
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1.75 teaspoons salt, divided
  • 2 pounds turkey sausage, casings removed and crumbled
  • 1.25 pounds lean ground turkey
  • 1.25 cups plain dry bread crumbs
  • 0.75 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 large eggs
  • 0.25 cup chopped fresh parsley
Instructions:
  • In a skillet, gently sizzle half of the garlic in oil until fragrant. Transfer to a slow cooker, then mix in tomatoes, oregano, and 3/4 teaspoon salt.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the leftover garlic, remaining salt, turkey sausage, ground turkey, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, eggs, and parsley using your hands. Shape the mixture into 2-inch balls and place them into the slow cooker. Top the meatballs with the tomato mixture.
  • Slow cook until the center is no longer pink, about 4 to 5 hours.
