Delicious slow-cooker Italian dinner: turkey and sausage in flavorful tomato sauce, served with spaghetti.
Ingredients:
  • 1 lb sweet Italian turkey sausage, casings removed
  • 1/2 lb lean ground turkey
  • 1 container (8 oz) refrigerated prechopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped garlic
  • 1 cup dry red wine
  • 2 cans (14.5 oz each) diced tomatoes with basil, garlic and oregano, undrained
  • 1 can (15 oz) Italian-style tomato sauce
  • 1 can (6 oz) Muir Glen™ organic tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dried marjoram leaves
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon anchovy paste
  • 1 package (16 oz) spaghetti
Instructions:
  • Preheat a 12-inch nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the turkey sausage and ground turkey for 6 to 8 minutes, using a spoon to break it up until no longer pink. Stir in the onion and garlic and cook for 4 to 6 minutes until tender. Pour in the wine and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  • Coat a 5- to 6-quart slow cooker with cooking spray. Combine turkey mixture and all remaining ingredients in the slow cooker, excluding the spaghetti.
  • Cover and simmer on Low heat for 4 hours or until the sauce has thickened to perfection.
  • Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions, then generously ladle the delicious sauce over the perfectly cooked noodles just before serving.
