Make a delicious twist on sloppy joes by combining ground beef with pizza sauce, pepperoni, and more for a kid-friendly meal on buns.
Ingredients:
  • 2 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
  • 2 medium onions, chopped (about 1 cup)
  • 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper (1/2 medium)
  • 2 jars (14 oz each) pizza sauce
  • 1 package (3.5 oz) sliced pepperoni, chopped (about 3/4 cup)
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
  • 18 sandwich buns, split
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (2 oz)
Instructions:
  • In a large skillet, sauté ground beef and onions over medium-high heat for 5 to 7 minutes until beef is cooked through; drain any excess fat.
  • Prepare the slow cooker by giving it a light coating of cooking spray. Add the beef mixture to the slow cooker, then mix in the bell pepper, pizza sauce, pepperoni, basil, and oregano.
  • Cover the dish and let it cook on the Low setting for 4 to 6 hours.
  • Spoon generous portions of the beef mixture onto the bottom halves of the buns, then sprinkle each with a generous amount of cheese before sandwiching with the top halves of the buns.
