Bake a spiced apple cake with cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves in just four steps. Add a delicious browned butter frosting for the perfect finishing touch.
Ingredients:
  • 2 1/4 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup raisins, chopped
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 eggs
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and lightly flour a 13x9-inch pan with shortening for easy removal of your delicious creation.
  • In a large bowl, beat all ingredients except frosting with an electric mixer on low speed for 30 seconds, scraping the bowl constantly. Increase the speed to high and beat for an additional 3 minutes, scraping the bowl occasionally. Pour the mixture into the pan.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool completely for about 1 hour.
  • Spread a generous layer of frosting over the entire cake to create a smooth and beautiful finish.
