Sour Milk Spice Cake

Vintage cake recipe from the 30's and 40's. Substitute buttermilk with homemade sour milk.
Ingredients:
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 0.5 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup sour milk
  • 0.75 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously grease and flour a 9x9 inch baking pan.
  • Sift together sugar, flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and cloves. Create a well in the center and pour in the milk and oil. Stir until just combined, then fold in the nuts.
  • Transfer the mixture into a 9x9 inch baking pan and bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 45 minutes.
