Easy sourdough bread for bread machine using homemade starter.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 3 tablespoons wheat germ
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 1.5 cups sourdough starter
  • 3 tablespoons margarine, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon cornmeal
Instructions:
  • Combine all ingredients in a bread machine set to the Manual cycle, which typically includes two mix cycles lasting 15 to 20 minutes each with an hour-long rise cycle in between.
  • Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and shape it into a round loaf. Put the loaf on a lightly oiled and cornmeal-sprinkled baking stone or sheet. Cover and allow the loaf to rise in a warm place until almost doubled in size, for about 40 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
  • Place the mixture in a hot oven for 20 to 30 minutes, until it turns golden brown and the loaf makes a hollow sound when gently tapped. Cool the bread on a wire rack.
