Effortless mock sourdough bread with tangy yogurt for your favorite flavor shortcut!
Ingredients:
  • 3 (6 ounce) containers plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons active dry yeast
  • 0.5 cup warm water
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour, or as needed, divided
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • cold water as needed
Instructions:
  • Warm the yogurt in a microwave-safe bowl in the microwave or on the stovetop until it reaches a lukewarm temperature.
  • Combine yeast with warm water until dissolved. Add yogurt, 2 cups of flour, sugar, oil, and salt. Mix until smooth. Gradually add the remaining flour until the dough is easy to handle.
  • Transfer dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, allowing it to rise until doubled in size, around 1 hour.
  • Divide the dough into 8 loaves and gently brush each with cold water. Use a sharp knife to make 3 diagonal slashes on the top of each loaf. Allow them to double in size, approximately 25 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and delicately brush the loaves with cold water.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until they sound hollow when tapped, brushing with water twice while baking.
