Ingredients:
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 30 buttery round crackers
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 (9 inch) prepared pie shell
  • 1 cup crushed buttery round crackers

Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
  • In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, combine water, sugar, and cream of tartar and bring to a boil. Add whole crackers and boil for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and pour the mixture into a pie shell. Sprinkle with cinnamon and drizzle with lemon juice for a delicious finishing touch.
  • Prepare the topping by combining crushed crackers, brown sugar, melted butter, and cinnamon in a small bowl; then sprinkle it over the pie filling.
  • Place in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, then lower the temperature to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes. Serve warm.
