Mouthwatering homemade spaghetti sauce with turkey meatballs, so good you'll be tempted to eat it on its own!
Ingredients:
  • 0.75 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 medium white onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon red pepper paste
  • 1.5 pounds lean ground turkey
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 2 teaspoons dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice, or more to taste
  • 1 pinch salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 4 cups water, or more as needed
  • 1 (28 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can fire-roasted diced tomatoes
  • 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
Instructions:
  • In a food processor, blend parsley, onion, garlic, and red pepper paste until smooth. Transfer the mixture to a large bowl and combine with turkey, basil, thyme, cumin, cinnamon, allspice, salt, and pepper. Shape the mixture into meatballs of equal size.
  • In a large saucepan over medium-low heat, gently heat oil. Add meatballs in batches, if needed, and saute until golden all over, about 2 to 3 minutes per side. Transfer to a plate.
  • In a saucepan, combine 4 cups of water, spaghetti sauce, diced tomatoes, and tomato paste. Mix well. If the sauce is too thick, add more water. Then gently place meatballs into the sauce and simmer over medium-low heat for about 1 hour until flavors are well blended.
