Substitute Darjeeling tea with high-quality loose-leaf black tea for a fragrant twist from India.
Ingredients:
  • 2 small oranges, thinly sliced
  • 40.00 ml cardamom pods
  • 12 cinnamon sticks
  • 6 whole star anise
  • 40.00 ml whole cloves
  • 20.00 ml allspice berries
  • 20.00 ml fennel seeds
  • 20.00 ml coriander seeds
  • 75g Darjeeling loose-leaf tea
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 100C/80C fan forced and place a wire rack over a large baking tray.
  • Arrange the orange slices on the rack and bake for 2 hours, flipping them every 20 minutes, until dried. Let them cool completely before serving.
  • Toast the cardamom, cinnamon, star anise, cloves, allspice, fennel, and coriander in a frying pan over medium heat for 3-4 minutes until fragrant. Let cool.
  • Mix the spice mixture, orange, and tea together in a bowl. Portion it into airtight containers or tea bags for a thoughtful, homemade gift.
