Spiced pear mulled white wine

Indulge in a cozy winter starter with a glass of spiced pear mulled white wine.
Ingredients:
  • 500.00 ml cloudy pear juice
  • 178.75 gm honey
  • 4 whole star anise
  • 8 cardamom pods, bruised
  • 1 vanilla bean, split
  • 5cm piece fresh ginger, thinly sliced
  • 2 x 750ml bottles dry white wine
  • 1 beurre bosc pear, halved, cored, thinly sliced
  • 125.00 ml vanilla vodka (see notes)
  • 1 small lemon, thinly sliced
Instructions:
  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine pear juice, honey, star anise, cardamom, vanilla bean, ginger, and wine. Simmer until fragrant. Remove from heat and gently stir in pear slices. Let it sit for 20 minutes before serving.
  • Pour the wine mixture through a strainer into a large jug, saving a few pear slices. Add vodka and mix well. Serve in preheated glasses with lemon slices and the saved pear slices.
