Elevate your grilled burgers with homemade BBQ sauce and crispy fried onions in just 25 minutes!
Ingredients:
  • 1 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
  • 5 medium green onions, sliced (1/3 cup)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
  • 4 slices pepper Jack cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns, split
  • 4 leaves romaine lettuce
  • 4 slices tomato
  • 1/2 cup French-fried onions (from 2.8-oz can)
Instructions:
  • Preheat the grill, then combine beef, green onions, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Form the mixture into 4 patties, each about 1/2 inch thick.
  • Grill the patties over medium-high heat for 8 to 12 minutes, flipping once, until a meat thermometer inserted into the center reads 160°F. Add 1 tablespoon of barbecue sauce and 1 slice of cheese on top of each burger. Cover the grill and cook for an additional 30 seconds, allowing the cheese to melt.
  • Take the burgers off the grill and cover them to keep warm. Then, place the buns on the grill, cut sides down, and cook for about 1 minute until they are golden brown.
  • Place a bed of crisp lettuce and fresh tomato slices on the bottom buns. Stack up the juicy burgers and crown them with a generous handful of crispy French-fried onions. Finally, seal the deal with the top buns.
