Spiced quince cranberry sauce from local Mexican market – a flavorful twist on a classic favorite!
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 pound quinces - peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1 orange, zested
  • 0.5 cup orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons white wine vinegar
  • 3 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
Instructions:
  • Combine sugar, cloves, allspice, cinnamon, and salt in a large saucepan. Pour in the water and bring to a boil over high heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Gently add quince and simmer over low heat until rose colored, about 4 to 5 minutes.
  • Combine the orange zest, orange juice, vinegar, and cranberries in a pot. Bring to a boil over high heat, then simmer on medium-low until the cranberries burst and the chutney thickens, approximately 20 minutes. Allow to cool completely before serving.
