Spicy cream cheese stuffed mushrooms topped with shrimp, a decadent and delicious appetizer.
Ingredients:
  • ground black pepper to taste
  • salt to taste
  • 16 mushrooms
  • 1 tablespoon butter, or as needed
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1.5 cups cream cheese
  • 0.5 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste
  • 16 uncooked medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 0.75 cup bread crumbs
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Gently separate mushroom stems from caps, finely chop the stems, and reserve the caps.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter until sizzling. Add mushroom stems and garlic, sautéing until tender and fragrant, for about 3 to 5 minutes. Take off the heat.
  • In a bowl, mix cream cheese, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and salt. Then stir in the cooked mushroom stem mixture, leaving the butter in the skillet.
  • Place the skillet back on medium heat and add the shrimp. Stir and cook until the shrimp turn opaque, which should take around 3 to 5 minutes. Remove from the heat.
  • In a shallow bowl, place bread crumbs. Fill each mushroom cap with cream cheese mixture, dip the top side into the bread crumbs, and top each with a cooked shrimp. Arrange in a baking pan.
  • Roast in the preheated oven until tender and flavorful, approximately 20 minutes.
