Make homemade Turkish Gozleme easily in 4 steps! Stuff with delicious feta and spinach, using simple ingredients like yeast, flour, and olive oil. No need to fear making the dough - it's forgiving and easy to handle. Serve with a squeeze of lemon for a perfect dinner.
Ingredients:
  • 8g sachet instant dried yeast
  • pinch of salt
  • 5.00 gm caster sugar
  • 750.00 ml plain flour
  • 75.08 gm olive oil (see tip)
  • 100g baby spinach
  • 200g Dairy Cheese Feta Australian Style, crumbled
  • lemon wedges, to serve
Instructions:
  • In a jug, mix 300ml warm water with yeast, salt, and sugar. Stir with a fork and cover. Let it sit in a warm, sunny spot for 5 minutes or until bubbles appear on the surface.
  • In a large bowl, sift the flour. Add the yeast mixture and 2 tablespoons of oil, then mix until a soft dough forms. Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5 minutes until elastic. Divide the dough into 4 pieces and place them on a greased baking tray. Cover with a clean tea towel and let it rest in a warm, sunny spot for 20 minutes or until the dough doubles in size.
  • Roll out the dough into a large 35cm x 45cm rectangle. Add spinach on one half of the dough, sprinkle with feta, salt, and pepper. Fold the dough over the filling and press the edges to seal it.
  • 1. Preheat a barbecue plate over medium-high heat. 2. Brush one side of each gozleme with 2 teaspoons of oil. 3. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until the base is golden. 4. Brush the uncooked side with the remaining oil. 5. Flip over and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes until golden and crisp. 6. Transfer to a serving plate and cut the gozleme into quarters. 7. Serve with lemon wedges.
