Festive buttercup squash and apple casserole, a sweet and hearty Thanksgiving favorite.
Ingredients:
  • 2 pounds buttercup squash, halved and seeded
  • 2 baking apples, cut into 1/2-inch slices, or more to taste
  • 0.5 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground mace
  • 0.5 cup dried cranberries
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously grease a 9x11-inch casserole dish.
  • Place the squash on a flat surface and trim off the tough outer rind using a knife. Slice the squash into 1/2-inch pieces and lay them out on the bottom of the dish. Top with the sliced apples.
  • Mix brown sugar, butter, flour, salt, and mace in a bowl. Drizzle over the apples, then scatter cranberries on top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until the top is golden brown and the apples are tender, for 50 minutes to 1 hour.
