Fall-inspired butternut squash and apple casserole, perfect for a festive Thanksgiving feast as a twist on candied yams.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground mace
  • 2 pounds butternut squash - peeled, seeded, and cut into 1/2 inch slices
  • 2 large apples - cored, and cut into 1/2 inch slices
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) for the perfect cooking temperature.
  • Combine the brown sugar, butter, flour, salt, and mace in a bowl and stir until well mixed.
  • Lay out the squash in a 9x13-inch baking dish without greasing it. Layer slices of apple on top, then sprinkle with the brown sugar mixture. Cover with a lid or aluminum foil.
  • Roast in the preheated oven until the squash is tender, for about 50 to 60 minutes.
