Indulge in succulent venison steaks cooked in savory onion mushroom gravy - a game meat lover's dream dish!
Ingredients:
  • 4 (4 ounce) venison steaks
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons ground bay leaves
  • 1 pinch salt and pepper
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 0.5 onion, chopped
  • 6 fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can beef gravy
  • 0.25 cup milk
Instructions:
  • Trim excess fat and gristle from the meat, then tenderize each steak until thin but intact. In a shallow bowl, mix flour, bay leaf, salt, and pepper. Coat steaks evenly with the flour mixture.
  • Begin by heating olive oil in a large heavy skillet over medium heat. Sauté onions until soft and translucent. Add mushrooms and garlic, cooking until tender. Remove the mixture from the skillet and set it aside. Use the remaining oil to fry each steak for 2 minutes on each side until golden brown. Add the onion mixture back to the skillet, stirring in gravy and milk. Reduce the heat, cover, and simmer for 30 to 40 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
