Satisfying Steak Pie inspired by a beloved bakery, with the option to elevate it with tender calf kidneys for a traditional Steak and Kidney Pie twist!
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound cubed beef stew meat
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 (1 ounce) package dry mushroom gravy mix
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 pinch salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon water
Instructions:
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, sizzle the oil. Toss in the beef stew meat and sear until golden. Cook the onion until soft, around 5 minutes. Sprinkle in the mushroom gravy mix and pour in 1 cup of water. Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper for flavor. Reduce the heat, and gently simmer for 20 to 30 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Now, scoop the flavorful beef mixture into a casserole dish. Cover it snugly with a layer of puff pastry, pressing the edges onto the dish to lock in the goodness. For that golden finish, whisk an egg with 1 tablespoon of water in a cup and gently brush it over the pastry.
  • Place in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes or until the pastry is beautifully puffed and golden brown.
