Broccoli and imitation crab stir-fry: a quick, flavorful side dish.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound broccoli
  • 2 green onions (with tops)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon cold water
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1 package (8 ounces) frozen salad-style imitation crabmeat, thawed
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
Instructions:
  • Peel the outer layer of the broccoli. Slice the broccoli stems into 1-inch pieces and remove the flowerets. Diagonally slice the stems into 1/4-inch slices. Boil the broccoli stems for 30 seconds, then add the flowerets and boil for another 30 seconds. Drain the broccoli and rinse immediately with cold water.
  • Cut the green onions into 1/2-inch pieces and then slice them lengthwise in half. Combine the cornstarch and water to make a smooth mixture.
  • Preheat wok or skillet over high heat, then add vegetable oil and swirl to coat. Stir-fry broccoli and garlic for 1 minute.
  • Pour in the flavorful broth and bring it to a boil. Gently mix in the cornstarch blend, cooking and stirring until the sauce thickens. Toss in the succulent crabmeat, fresh green onions, and aromatic sesame oil, and continue to cook and stir for just 1 minute.
