Bake strawberries into luscious custard for a decadent French treat.
Ingredients:
  • Melted butter, to grease
  • 4 eggs
  • 4.40 gm vanilla essence
  • 100g (1/2 cup) caster sugar
  • 75g (1/2 cup) plain flour
  • 240g (1 cup) bought thick vanilla custard
  • 250ml (1 cup) pouring cream
  • 2 x 250g punnets strawberries, washed, hulled, halved if large
  • Thickened cream, to serve
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 180°C. Grease a 2L (8-cup) ovenproof dish with melted butter. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, vanilla, sugar, and flour. Stir in custard and pouring cream until well combined. Transfer the mixture into the prepared dish.
  • Place the strawberries on top of the custard mixture and bake for 40 minutes or until golden brown and a skewer comes out clean. Serve with a dollop of thickened cream.
