Super Fluffy Breadsticks

Homemade breadsticks inspired by Olive Garden, irresistibly fluffy and delicious. A delightful treat to bake and enjoy!
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 0.75 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (105 to115 degrees F/40 to 45 degrees C)
  • 1 tablespoon warm water (105 to115 degrees F/40 to 45 degrees C)
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted, divided
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic salt
Instructions:
  • In a bowl, combine sugar and yeast with 1 cup plus 1 tablespoon of warm water. Allow the mixture to rest for about 5 minutes until the yeast softens and a creamy foam develops.
  • In a stand mixer bowl with the paddle attachment, stir together flour and salt. Add 2 tablespoons of butter and mix until fully combined. Pour in the yeast mixture and knead with the dough hook attachment until the dough is smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.
  • Transfer the dough to a container and cover it with a towel or plastic wrap; allow it to rise until doubled in size, about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
  • Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
  • Take the dough and shape it into 2-ounce portions, rolling each into 7-inch long sticks. Place the sticks on the prepared baking sheet, cover with plastic wrap, and allow them to rest until the dough doubles in size, which should take around 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) and unwrap the dough from the plastic wrap.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until breadsticks are beautifully golden brown, about 10 to 12 minutes. Brush each breadstick with the remaining 2 tablespoons of melted butter and sprinkle with garlic salt.
