Elevate your holiday feast with a whiskey-infused brown sugar glaze on a succulent bone-in ham - a simple 5-ingredient masterpiece.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (8 1/2 pound) cooked bone-in ham (shank end)
  • 40 whole cloves
  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup bourbon whiskey
  • 1.5 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
  • Peel off the skin and extra fat from the ham, keeping a thin 1/4-inch fat layer. Score the ham in a diamond pattern with a sharp knife and insert cloves into the center of each diamond. Put the ham cut side down in a roasting pan.
  • Roast the ham in the oven until a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part reads 125°F (52°C), around 2 hours.
  • Whisk together brown sugar, whiskey, and black pepper until glaze is velvety.
  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Brush a third of the delicious whiskey glaze onto the ham. Continue baking until the internal temperature reaches 140 degrees F (60 degrees C), basting the ham with the glaze every 10 minutes. If the ham browns too quickly, cover it loosely with aluminum foil.
  • Allow the ham to relax for 15 minutes before slicing.
