Effortless one-pot wonder: simply combine ingredients, heat, and enjoy!
Ingredients:
  • 1 x 900g piece pork scotch fillet, excess fat trimmed, cut into 3cm pieces
  • 5 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
  • 2 red onions, halved, thickly sliced
  • 55g (1/4 cup, firmly packed) brown sugar
  • 60ml (1/4 cup) kecap manis
  • 60ml (1/4 cup) light soy sauce
  • 80ml (1/3 cup) water
  • 40.00 ml rice wine vinegar
  • 48.80 gm oyster sauce
  • 3 whole star anise
  • 2 x 7cm cinnamon sticks
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • Steamed rice, to serve
  • Steamed Asian greens, to serve
Instructions:
  • In a large saucepan, mix together the pork, garlic, onion, sugar, kecap manis, soy sauce, water, vinegar, oyster sauce, star anise, cinnamon, and pepper. Heat over medium heat until boiling.
  • Lower the heat, cover, and gently simmer for 30 minutes, giving it a stir every now and then. Uncover and continue to simmer for another 10-15 minutes until the pork is tender and the sauce has thickened.
  • Scoop out the fluffy rice into individual serving bowls and generously spoon the savory pork mixture on top. Pair it with a side of steamed Asian greens for a well-rounded and satisfying meal.
