Satisfy your cravings with Taco Pizza - a delicious fusion of tacos and pizza. Enjoy it on Taco Tuesday or any pizza night. Choose between fresh dough or a pre-baked crust for a quick meal.
Ingredients:
  • For the pizza
  • 1 (1-pound) ball homemade or store-bought pizza dough
  • 1 pound ground beef (90:10 works well)
  • 1 (1-ounce) package taco seasoning (or 2 tablespoons homemade )
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 (15-ounce) can refried beans
  • 1/2 cup salsa
  • 1 (8-ounce) package shredded Mexican blend cheese
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives
  • For the toppings
  • 1/2 cup salsa, plus more for serving
  • 1/4 cup sliced scallions
  • 1/4 cup fresh or jarred jalapeño slices
  • 2 cups shredded lettuce, divided, plus more for serving
  • 4 tablespoons sour cream, divided, plus more for serving
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 500°F and let the pizza dough come to room temperature.
  • Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat until no longer pink, about 4-6 minutes. Discard excess grease if needed, then stir in taco seasoning and water. Simmer until most of the liquid evaporates but the beef is still saucy, about 10 minutes. Set aside.
  • Prepare the bean topping by blending the refried beans and salsa in a medium bowl until creamy. Set aside.
  • Prepare the baking surface: Lightly oil a baking sheet or 12-inch pizza pans. Shape one of the dough balls into a 12-inch circle on a clean, lightly floured or oiled surface, then transfer to the pan.
  • Spread half of the refried bean mixture evenly on the dough, leaving a small border. Add half of the ground beef, cheese, and black olives on top.
  • Place the pizza in the oven and bake for 15-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbling.
  • While the first pizza is in the oven, start making the next pizza.
  • Serve with a flourish: Take the cooked pizza out of the oven and allow it to cool for 5 minutes. Put the second pizza in the oven. Top the slightly cooled pizza with half of the salsa, jalapeño slices, and sliced scallions. Add half of the shredded lettuce. Finish with a dollop of sour cream in the middle. Slice and serve with extra salsa, lettuce, and sour cream. Enjoy this pizza fresh out of the oven or store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days (just remove any lettuce).
