Delicious and simple tea cake recipe.
Ingredients:
  • 2 eggs
  • 1.5 cups white sugar
  • 0.5 cup shortening
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Cream together the shortening and sugar until well combined. Beat in the eggs. In a separate bowl, combine the dry ingredients and gradually add to the shortening mixture until the dough is stiff and no longer sticky, adding flour as needed.
  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface, cut it into shapes, decorate with sprinkles or colored sugar. Re-roll any leftover dough trimmings and continue cutting into shapes until all the dough is used.
  • Place the dough on lightly greased cookie sheets and bake for 8-9 minutes until perfectly golden.
