Moist and delicious Texas sheet cake with rich chocolate icing and walnuts - a celebration favorite!
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 cup sour cream
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup butter
  • 5 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 6 tablespoons milk
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 4 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 10x15-inch jelly roll pan by greasing and flouring it.
  • In a mixing bowl, blend together flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt. Add sour cream and eggs, then mix well.
  • In a saucepan, gently melt the butter. Add water and cocoa powder, then bring to a boil. Remove from heat, let it cool for a bit, and then combine with the flour and egg mixture. Transfer the batter into the prepared pan.
  • Bake in the oven until a toothpick comes out clean, approximately 20 minutes.
  • While the cake is in the oven, create the icing by heating milk, cocoa powder, and butter in a large saucepan over medium heat until it boils. Remove from heat, then whisk in confectioners' sugar and vanilla. Fold in walnuts until well combined.
  • Generously frost the warm cake with icing.
