Spicy beef donair with creamy, sweet, and tangy sauce in pita bread.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 0.25 cup white vinegar, or to taste
  • 6 large pita bread rounds
Instructions:
  • For the meatloaf, combine ground beef with cayenne pepper, black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, paprika, and oregano in a large bowl until well mixed. Shape the mixture into a loaf on a baking tray, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate overnight.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) for the perfect cooking temperature.
  • Bake the meatloaf in a preheated oven for about 30 minutes, ensuring it is cooked through by turning it over halfway. Check the internal temperature with a thermometer - it should reach at least 160°F (70°C). Let the meatloaf cool before slicing for better texture.
  • As you wait, create the sauce: Combine evaporated milk and sugar in a bowl and stir until the sugar dissolves. Gradually mix in vinegar, one teaspoon at a time, to achieve your desired taste. Chill the sauce in the refrigerator until you are ready to enjoy it.
  • Slice the meatloaf into 1/4-inch thick slices and pan-fry each slice over medium heat until golden and crispy, approximately 5 minutes on each side.
  • Moisten pita bread rounds lightly with water and briefly warm in a dry skillet over medium heat until toasty.
  • To serve: Fill warm pita bread with multiple meatloaf slices, drizzle 2 tablespoons of sauce, then roll into a cone shape. Wrap each donair in aluminum foil to prevent any sauce from dripping out. Serve and enjoy!
