Walnut thumbprint cookies with jam filling - perfect for any occasion!
Ingredients:
  • 1 large egg, separated, divided
  • 0.5 cup butter, softened
  • 0.25 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 cup finely chopped walnuts
  • 0.66666668653488 cup any flavor fruit jam
Instructions:
  • Assemble your culinary treasures.
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 300 degrees F (150 degrees C) while generously greasing two cookie sheets.
  • In a small bowl, vigorously whisk the egg white until frothy. In a separate small bowl, add the chopped walnuts.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat together butter, brown sugar, and egg yolk until light and fluffy for about 2 minutes.
  • Combine flour, vanilla, and salt until thoroughly mixed.
  • Form dough into 1 1/2-inch balls, coat in egg white, then cover with walnuts. Space 2 inches apart on cookie sheets.
  • Bake in the hot oven until slightly puffed, for about 5 minutes.
  • Take the cookies out of the oven and gently press an indent in the center of each. Fill each indent with jam to the top.
  • Continue baking the cookies until they are firm, approximately 8 minutes.
  • Take out of the oven and place on wire racks to cool to perfection.
