Impress with ease: make a stunning treasure chest cake that delights all ages, easier than it seems!
Ingredients:
  • 370g packet moist chocolate cake mix
  • 20.00 gm spread
  • 125g unsalted butter, softened
  • 187.50 gm icing sugar mixture, sifted
  • 32.50 gm cocoa powder, sifted
  • 5.20 gm milk
  • 2 x 50g packets Rolo chocolate
  • 1 x 25g Curly Wurly chocolate bar
  • Gold coins, to decorate
  • Lolly necklaces, to decorate
  • Smarties, to decorate
  • Jubes, to decorate
  • Licorice allsorts, to decorate
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 180°C/160°C fan-forced. Grease a 6cm-deep, 9cm x 19cm loaf pan and line it with baking paper, leaving a 2cm overhang. Prepare the cake batter following the instructions on the packet and pour it into the pan.
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes until a skewer comes out clean. If the cake is over-browning, cover with foil. Allow to rest in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool.
  • Beat butter with an electric mixer until fluffy. Gradually mix in icing sugar and cocoa, then add milk and beat until combined. Trim cake to create a lid, spread half of the icing on the bottom part of the cake, and spread the rest on the lid.
  • Place the cake bottom on a board or plate, and encircle it with Rolos. Cut the Curly Wurly diagonally into two 6cm lengths, then place them upright on the cake sides as support for the lid. Arrange the lollies on the cake bottom, then gently position the cake top over the Curly Wurly pieces. Serve and enjoy!
